wimble
Sadly Cleopatras fist egg hatched today but she seems to have squashed the chick and it was fully hatched but dead. Two more are pipping and I am very worried for them. The nest is in the eglu nesting dip, made of shredded paper on top of a thick layer of sawdust to try and bring up the level so chicks can get out eventually. maybe chick sunk into sawdust? I shut her in today after she returned to the nest from her feed and drink outing to protect her from anything as was out. Is there anything I can do????? Lewis
I'd put her and the eggs into the tray (with roosting bars removed) and a nest made of sawdust
wimble
Can I do that while eggs mid hatch, wouldn't she stamp around trying to make it more comfortable and maybe squash more?
Lewis
Maybe - I'd try it in a while when its dark so she should settle pretty quickly
