Toots
We have just joined another forum called birdline. http://parrot-rescue.org.uk/ Emma and i are going to become what is called a "safehouse" for parrots. Basically when parrot is handed in to the charity for any reason, e.g the owner dies, parrot is no longer wanted abuse etc, they give the bird to a safe house where they are looked after a general report is written then a new home is looked for. The bird will stay with us untill the right home is found for the bird and they can be adopted. we could be looking after anything from budgie to macaw ( although the macaw will need some experiance first)

craftyhunnypie
What a lovely thing of you to offer to do. The parrots will drive you barmy! Mum & dad have an African grey & she is soooo clever. They have to put padlock on the cage as she can undo the screw clip thingys. She even unclips the stationery clips they had to put on her food bowls! Oh & she waits for the dogs to go snooping round her cage & then grabs a handful of parrot mix seed & lobs it out for them! She is brilliant - she talks non stop & sings a few songs..including.. On mother Kelly's doorstep, Horsey Horsey don't you stop, cherry ripe, cheeky girls & whistles the Mc Donalds I'm lovin' it tune. Good luck! Toots
well we had our home check and everything went well! they just have to send the paper work off to their boss to approve. should be fine though. If we do get a parrot it comes with a cage etc so we dont have to worry about that! just have to wait now! they are desperatly short of safe houses so I am sure they would appreciate anyone wanting to help out, especially in the Berkshire area!
