You won't regret it, their characters are just fascinating I don't know about Cheshire/Derbys but I got my 2 girls from BHWT (was Battery but now British Hen Welfare Trust). They normally want you to take three girls but were happy for me to have two to add to my established pair, as three new rescues would bully the two established girls I also found a few other charities - Little Hen Rescue are in Norfolk plus my local rescue centre has chooks!
