Chicken boarders

After sadly losing Tulip to peritonitis earlier in the week, we were lucky enough to find a local breeder who had two warren pullets for us to bring home yesterday So, bank holiday weekend was spent trying to fix up a very heath robinson run alongside my existing two girls. Along with the help of a cat basket and an old omlet summer cover, we have managed to provide them with space and shelter while the girls get to know each other! So far Martha and Lily haven't taken much notice of the newbies, Milly and Edith, just the occasional peck when they come too close to the netting separating them The next thing for me to do now is change my signature ... though maybe I'll leave that to the children!

So pleased you've got some new ones. Warrens are very good for eggs too. I started with 3 and now have 11 - and thinking maybe I need more... It's so addictive!

Oops, Edith has managed to wriggle through netting separating her from the big girls! So we've just had our first bit of shared freeranging! So we put Martha and Lily in Edith and Milly's little run to see how they would all get on ... it wasn't too bad, just the odd peck when they all tried to feed or got too close. All separated again ... for now!

Another Cheshire girl here - near Chester! Glad to hear you have new girls, good luck settling them. My older girl has sterile peritonitis, it's so sad, but she seems happy enough at the moment.
