bronze
Have fun camping make sure you have lots of fun little things to do so if he looks like hes about to have one og his moments you can ultra interested in the fun thing. Amazing how nosy small children are. My eldest was my very difficult one. He never slept, was always on the go, walked at 9 months etc and is super bright. Hes currently under assessment for aspergers and though he has his moments he is also the most loving and delightful boy you could meet. Its my daughter who's doing my nut in at the moment though, maybe some of us cope with boys better, some with girls. I have to admit I'm thankful I had 3 boys as much as I love my daughter, I'm not a very girly sort. The point is everyone has their horror stories on here but the consistent thing is they all say he/shes is older now and lovely This too will pass
chickencam
It looks like the overiding advice here is to be consistent, no means no and to keep him active. The thing for you to cling to is the positive message that there are a lot of lovely adults out there who were just like your son when they were small. I have a challenging 11 year old who has always been extremely stuborn and strong willed. The other side to her is thoughtful and loving though. When she is being good I spend lots of positive time with her making sure she has lots of cuddles and telling her how nice she is being etc. Boys need just as many cuddles if not more than girls, my son has had various problems over the years and finds it hard to talk about his problems, but a well timed hug or cuddle when watching TV etc can do wonders for their security. He is a typical grouchy 14 year old, and the comparison to dogs continues, he is like a Great Dane, he jumps around and his hugs should come with a health warning as should his room. This phase will pass, but in the mean time make sure that your partner or other family members take some of the strain leaving you to take some time for yourself, even if it is only a long soak in the bath or 15 minutes with your feet up and a cuppa. Also this would give you the time to do some girly stuff with your daughter. Enjoy your camping trip, the weather is looking good so chill and have a good time.
