how do you add it to their food? can you use granules rather than powder? how much tea spoon per grub mixed in or an egg cup full?

Powder or granules added to the food is fine, a teaspoon or so per grub or two for a larger feeder

I read somewhere on here that you could just pop a clove or two in the drinking water - has anyone tried that or would the chooks gobble it up whole?

One of mine did that! I dont do that now. i also found they drank a lot less water when the garlic clove was in there which cant be good for them in the heat!

I put garlic granules in their water, they love to eat the little bits of garlic and I put a quarter teaspoon for four litres of water every other day.

I just stick a scoop of powder in their food, very technical and precise (NOT!) does the job though

Don't go too crazy with it though - I think I added a teaspoon too much to the pellets 'cos I can catch a whiff of garlic in the run when I sit I with them and when I was examining their vents the surrounding feathers smelt of garlic too.
