Hens@HalfMoonLane
My old ex bat - 3.5 years is going into overdrive laying eggs, sometimes 2 normal, sometimes 2 soft for the last week. She laid one normal egg on Wednesday and then today a soft broken one in the nest bax, soft shell sticking out and tonight another soft one wholw this time. I think I'm going to take her to the vets as she is starting with runny poo for some anti biotics. I lost 2 last month to peritonitis so I'm playing on the safe side here. Could the vet give her any hormones to stop her laying or anything to slow down her egg production? She has plenty of grit and oyster shell, free ranges and is on ex bat pellets, the same as her friend a younger ex bat.
Plum
Would it be worth worming her as well?
Egluntyne
It might be worth trying her on bog standard pellets. There have been sporadic reports about the ex batt feed causing them to lay soft eggs.
