My girls have scaley leg mite. I've sprayed all hens with Xeno 200 invermectin as it says it kills internal and external parasites. I am assuming it will have killed the scaley leg mite if they feed off the hens blood? As the scales are still raised and i am still not convinced they are gone I have sprayed their legs with this scaley leg mite spray which is a barrier and a preventative rather than a killer of the bugs.

Is there anything else i can do? Are they gone?

I read that someone was told to spray their legs with frontline spray but it seems that you can only get it on perscription.

I can't quite remember the details but it's something like this ... the scales remain raised until they slough off (which can take months if not years, I think?) So their legs don't go back to normal but the mites should be gone if you've sprayed them.

The scales will remain raised until they moult and still the new scales may not be great sadly

 

If you have used Xeno the mites should be gone

Do hens leg scale moult when their feathers moult?

They do. However, the legs will never be as smooth as they were. There will always be a bit of a bumpy look after Scaley Leg Mite.
