Blue-DiamondChick07
I got my 3 Ex- Batts a week ago, and they're doing well was just wondering when I can let them out of their run to have a free range around the garden? They do have a very big run, but they really want to come out Obviously I'll have to put my other 4 Hens away cos of fights etc....
Lizzie
Yes, do, just stay around with them at first as may be a bit daunted by things but they will be fine How wonderful for them
sage
I let 5 of my 7 ex batts out after a week, they didn't move far from the run and all wondered back in after about 10 mins. They normally get 1 hour between 5 and 6 and are getting more inquisitive Sage
Lavenders_Blue
I was impatient and let mine out after 3 days! With the benefit of hindsight it was a little soon but if you've had them a week that will be fine. Perhaps try letting them out in the evening so they will want to go back into the run to go to bed. THF Nick
had my new 2 out on day 1 Snap. Ours literally free ranged out of the box. We separated them in the run for a day or two but they made valiant attempts to escape and join the flock that we just let them and within 4-5 days they were just part of the gang. Elaine-chick
I let my 3 ex-bat girls free range after 3 days ... I was impatient (especially as Edna was desperate for freedom). They were fine and have settled in very well.
GillC
I got mine on Jan 16th. I kept them in their eglu run for a couple of weeks, then I rigged up a dividing fence and let them roam in their own subsection of the orchard (I had three other hens). They were really keen to get out and seemed to adapt very quickly. I was quite worried about the cold as they were pretty naked. In fact, I created a blog http://connectedpeasant.blogspot.com/ with photos to track their progress. I allowed them all to mix together on 23rd Feb - after about 5 weeks. There was very little bullying and pecking - I worked from home at a desk overlooking them for a week to keep an eye on them as they seemed so fragile, but it was all fine. They have the most wonderful little personalities and are incredibly friendly, you'll really enjoy having them
