craftyhunnypie
I'm a bit confused about my pekins. I have 5 lavenders which are 7 weeks today & are looking like the grown ups - proper pekin shape & pom pom tails. I also have 2 Millefleur pekins that are 6 weeks old today & they are so much tinier. Quite pekin looking, no pom pom tails as yet. They really are small. Is this normal for Millefleur pekins - are they naturally smaller? They are very healthy & cute. Out of the 5 Lavenders, I have 1 boy & the 2 Millefleurs are both girls I think for sure! How lucky is that eh? Emma.x
Guest
From the millifluer pekins I have seen they dont seem to be too much smaller. They have been smaller than lavanders but im not rele a pekin expert. Are you going to breed them ? for a random question.
Redwing
maybe other Millefleur birds have been used to improve the line at some point??? I know nothing about genetics but some of the diddier bantams seem to come in better Millefleur colouring than Pekins
craftyhunnypie
Well the breeder does breed Seramas too. I wonder if the eggs got mixed up? They really are little - but so beautifully cute! Not to worry anyway - as they are staying whatever! I breed a lot of pekins & have never seen any this little! Emma.x
fluffyfeet
I've got 3 Lavender pekins, 2 of which are identical in size/shape and then there's Little Rosie, who is really dinky - I've had wood pigeons in the garden that are bigger than her. She isn't as pom pommy as the others either, and all 3 were from the same hatch from the same breeder. I know I shouldn't say this but she is my favourite - soooo cute. Perhaps something else has got mixed in along the way - would love to see some piccy's!!! Dawn x
The Dogmother
Of my two current pekins, one (the lavender)is half the size of the black one. All of the pekins I've had in the past have varied widely in size.
