Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Ive bought this book from amazon

 

its a really interesting read

 

anyway, i want to try and go "natural" with my cosmetics - i know I have lapsed dramatically recently and this book has opened my eyes to a few rather unsavoury things

 

well, ive got a small list of things that I want to start with.

Coconut oil as a moisturiser

almond oil as a cleanser

ive already got some mineral make up

I need some mascara

 

it shouldnt cost much to get me started

 

anyway, my query is...

do I give away or dump the old cosmetics that I dont want to use any more? or should i use them up and start fresh when ive emptied with them?

 

I dont know what to do for the best any suggestions

I'd be inclined to use them up. The non-green bit was mainly in the production of them, so if you dump them it's wasted, and generally you can't give cosmetics away unless they are unopened packages, say, so I would use them up and then start with new stuff. Interesting - my 'green' principles are not too strong in this area, might have a look at that book.

I think ill keep using them for a little while, just not buy any more

Coconut oil on your hair is fab. We get ours from Roland Pharmacies in a pot. It's like a solid wax - great for styling too! But it does liquify in hot weather.

Aloe vera gel is good stuff from the plant - for your skin.

I always rub the tops cut off strawberries, all over my face - as a freshening toner - feels lovely. Then rinse with water later.

thanks emma, ill try that. we have a glut of strawberries at the allotment at the moment

 

i will try our big chemist for coconut oil, when ive run out of my usual stuff and i have an aloe plant

You can get coconut oil from ebay. I use it for lip balm.
