Unsecure chicken perches

Sat here enjoying my eggy sandwich for lunch courtesy of my clever girls. One of the eggs was a double yolker - extra yummy. Earlier this morning I sent half a dozen eggs up the street with a neigbours little girl who was so pleased because this meant dippy egg today

 

And it occured to me just how fantastic chickens really are - hurray for chickens

They are great.

 

The other day a work colleague was having a particularly bad day. She was very sad. The day after I went into the office and handed her 6 eggs, she was so delighted by the fact I had given her such a precious thing. She had seen videos on you tube of my chickens. She went home that night and made a boiled egg and soldiers. She enjoyed the first one so much that she and her partner finished off the rest and had 3 boiled eggs each for tea! She came in the next day with a beaming smile on her face. All that just from a few little eggs

I am still amazed by how it felt when we got our very first egg wonderful creatures both in personality and ability, love them to bits

I just got my first egg for over a week. Delightful! Also, my 9 year old had some friends round for his birthday last night for a sleepover and they spent yesterday evening with the chickens instead of watching the football! They were out there again with them at 7.30am - dressed And they cleaned the eglu! XBox redundant for the morning. Chickens give so much pleasure. They are great.

Isn't that so refreshing - kids wanting to spend time with the chickens instead of watching tv or playing x-box

But why is this. We have a dog and three cats but my 5 year old says "mummy chickens are the best."

 

What is it about them that captures us so much??? We have only had our girls a few weeks and we are all so taken with them already - even DH who is in denial!

I think they just captivate us, they all have their different little characters and they are sooo user friendly

I agree - chickens rule !!! They make you smile, they're always pleased to see you, never judge you, keep you amused for hours, and on top of that give you yummy eggs!!! and even when you thought that one had stopped laying for good, she surprises you with more eggs!!!!!

Yes, totally, just been tidying up around the garden after last night's barbeque (at which the girls behaced impeccably, getting so much attention!), and they're just following me around, clucking and pecking!!!
