esta
Hi I have a male and female californian pair of quails who are currently in a small arc, today we are moving them into the newly built avairy and are wondering if we could put some more quails but different breeds in with them? is it possible to have more then one male in there as well? The avairy is around 6ft high by 3and a half ft long and wide if this is any help. Please respond asap :D thanks :) Esta x
ladyjulian
You could possibly put some more females in, but you would need to introduce them very carefully and very slowly. I wouldn't put another male in.
Lewis
I thought you were best to have 3 males : 2 females ... introduce them slowly when you move the others to the new aviary. Not sure, maybe you could speak to the breeder to ask about ratios?

carole63
most coturnix will mix happily but introducing another male to an already established marriiage is, well shall we say, imagine if you did it at home! give your girls some meal worms to distract them then introduce new girls, the male will smell them and mount them all in seconds and once accepted by him the girls will accept them too
esta
Thanks for the replies everyone I got some more quails a male and female and integrated them slowly and it was a huge success, no biting, s"Ooops, word censored!"ping, fighting or anything, and the pairs got on with eachother swimmingly x
