Hello

I've had my 3 gorgeous chooks for about 6 weeks and I have now reserved some ex batts for August. :D This chicken keeping lark is so addictive and I think I am unhealthily obsessed. Anyway, I am now thinking of ordering this walk in run from Flyte So Fancy and I am wondering if any of you guys have it. Any thoughts anyone? I would be grateful! x

Yes we've got one of those - the 9ft x 15ft version with roof. We're really happy with it and the girls like it too. Hubby's enjoyed making modifications with perches and platforms and ladders etc.

It was relatively easy to put together with 3 of us but would have been a struggle with less than that I think. Took about a day all in all.

The door is a bit of a pain (literally sometimes!) because it's smaller than most adult humans so you bang your head if you forget or you're in a hurry. Also the door opens outwards and I would prefer it to open inwards to 'sweep' the chickens out of the way instead of them all coming running out.

Also, we've beefed up the security on the door to include a padlock and 2 bolt locks as we didn't feel the catch it came with was fox resistant.

Other than that, very good. And Flyes are very easy to deal with too.

Thanks for the information Lydia! I will have to persuade my OH who can't see the attraction of chickens :notalk: . I'm only 5'2'' so perhaps the door height won't be an issue for me! I think the walk in run would be a better option than getting a cube with a 3m run as I will be ending up with 6 chickens and although they FR a lot, we do go away at weekends and obviously on holiday too. Wonder if I can persuade OH to construct it before mid July :?::!::lol:

Thanks Jill! I have checked them out on the web site and they are competitively priced :D . Your run looks marvelous, as does the other run from Chirpy Coops. My suffering OH said he would put it together but I'm sure he won't complain if the supplier can do it. Trying to get a quote now. :)
