bizzylizzy
Hi everyone, Need some help ASAP!!!! we having just finished cleaning our quails out. they have all nice clean and fresh bedding and food and water. We have two, which we assumed were two girls. (we did have 3 but one died a few months ago). When we looked out of the window, one of them was really attacking the other one. on closer inspection, it was going for the eyes. we took the one that was being bullied out straight away. they are both now separate. any ideas what to do now and why this has happened? thanks bizzylizzy
Janty
You say that you assumed that they were girls. Have you had any eggs yet? If not, you may have two boys. They do tend to go for the head area when they fight.
bizzylizzy
One of them is definately a girl as we get eggs everyday. sometimes we get two. we have had them for ages now and had no problems. we tried putting them back in together but the bully attacked straight away. bizzylizzy
miss_spent
This is interesting. I got home last night and one of my quails had a bleeding head, and seems to have lost one of its eyes in the attack. I have cleaned it up and they both seem fairly happy, despite their injuries, and have now survived 24 hours. The other one had a chest wound. I know one of mine is female as I have had 1 egg from them. Could a female have attacked an over-zealous male? Until I read this I had assumed a cat had got them through the wire somehow, especially as they have been cuddled together as normal.
