Mollie333
I went to Derby County Show today, there was a whole section for Poultry and Pigeons, there was some lovely looking birds there, somehow some sort of game bird.. (huge long legs) with a cut(and a bald patch) on its wing won first prize... There was a lovely Pekin there that looked and acted like my broody Effy .. Was a fun day out and i reccomend anyone to go next year!

Mollie333
I would of said hello! I was the one with my hair up, blue top, jeans, looking stressed and boiling hot, or leading a grey pony if you was near that section.they had a lovely selection of jam, i must say! that Sussex was beautiful. I loved the white frizzle pekin did you see it ? on the right? Was a lovely show, did you see the Oxford game that won 1st place, Plum? Also did you see that mottled Pekin that was trying to get out of the cage?Bless her! Was a good day out, what time did you go? i had to help with my friends pony, Chetty, Oh my there was a cattle on the loose too! x
Plum
Didn't see the loose cattle but saw the loose dog attack that duck that was being hearded by those beautiful sheepdogs. It was very hot and I felt for the animals. The sheep were stressed as were the chickens and other animals including me. Couple of ice creams helped. The little frizzle was very pretty but didn't realise it was a pekin thought it was a japanese - lovely though. The game were interesting but don't think I would keep any, I just can't get used to them having such a wide stance. There was an entrant who was very upset with the judge. He had entered 2 enormous cocks, the ones under the partridge wyandottes. He said one was a hen breeder and the other a cock breeder. The hen breeder had won the class but he said the cock breeder cock was far superior and won championships. Always learn something at these shows. There were lots of horses and ponies and grey ones so I may well have seen you but I left about 1.30 I was just too hot and bothered. Did you see the horse trader that had chicken feed for sale including chick crumb and growers. Are you going to Bakewell Show on 5th August? Mollie333
Should be going Bakewell depends what im doing lol! i left at about 2:00, i was there for 6:00am (with the pony) it was boiling hot, and i really did feel sorry for the animals, expecially the chickens, because unlike the guinea pigs and rabbits the chickens didn't have water and was sat with there beaks open. Yes i saw the HUGEEEE cockerels, there was 2 buff orpies under the Wyandottes wasn't there? Loved the trio of black pekins. i think they lost alot of people coming because of the rubbish england game (we lost.. i won a fiver.. ) but i think it would be good if they like had a big gazebo up and a projector or TV for people to watch england.. I was looking to smuggle that Sebright under my t-shirt.. DIDN'T HAPPEN. Padlocks on the cages.. joke! Yep i saw the man selling feed, its from ''New farm'' in Horsley woodhouse, we brought some poultry wire from there a few weeks ago and was happy to see it there. we asked for small bags of chick crumb but they didn't have any under 15kg, which i don't need for the maximum of four chicks who will only be fed on them for 6 weeks.. . So i'm going to Kennelgate like you said xx
Plum
I think Kennelgate may just be big bags. I googled Taylors corn stores. There's one in Ripley that sells small amounts of all sorts of feed but also one in Ilkeston 122-124, Bath St, Ilkeston, Derbyshire DE7 8FF Tel: 0115 932 5304 May be worth ringing first. Those Orps were huge but really I like the females, they have such pretty faces. One day I'll have a bantam Orp Sebright was gorgeous but hardly more than the pigeons, you could have smuggled that out easily and maybe a pekin or two
