tehnellie
Not sure I agree with their assessment that "any sugary liquid" is necessarily safe for bees. They'll be attracted by honey (which can contain disease, especially if non-UK honey) and by sugar water. The cheaper alternative is an old jar with a solution of 50-50 water and Jam to an inch or two in the bottom which should attract the wasps but bees will ignore. Old Speckled Hen
I use a mix of cheap sugary soft drink, jam, mushy fruit or even banana skin bits and sometimes alcohol. Works a real treat. I don't think anybody here would interpret "any sugary liquid" as honey but thanks for the warning. I would add nothing including lemongrass oil either as bees like that as well as honey
Olly
I'm sure last year I read that if you put vinegar in the water (along with jam/sugar, but no honey) it will deter bees but will not put the wasps off.
Old Speckled Hen
Had a look at the Aldi ones and they are very small. I'll stick with my home made ones for now.
