Local Farm shop burnt down last night

Recommended Posts

Just down the road from my dd is a lovely farm shop, had a cafe/restauraunt but best of all they had a paddock with what looked like a couple of hundred free ranging hens, they also had lots of other birds and animals in an open zoo, and the most beautiful lamas one of them a baby born on the farm . My granddaughter loved looking at all the animals . Last night it burnt to the ground, there has been a bit on the local news but nothing has been said about the animals, it must have been bad as the news said there were lots of appliances there all night and roads closed and just feel so sad that this has happened can't help worrying about the poor animals . http://www.hinchliffes.com/news.php#minusfour

Such a shame about what's happened. We go up to Hinchliffes regularly as it has the best farm shop I've ever come across and the restaurant serves excellent food. We bought our chickens from there and their knowledge and help was unbeatable.

Regarding the animals, I was worrying too as the chickens for sale are really close to the restaurant which burnt down but a girl I teach whose brother works at the farm said they were all ok, as was the baby llama.

On a selfish point, we'd booked into the restaurant for a work meeting tomorrow afternoon and I'd looking forward to it all week. :(

I just hope they can build the business back up to how it was.

Sorry about the work meeting :( We have bought some girls from there in the past, some sad news though the examiner said the 200 chickens, think its the ones that free ranged in the paddock, didn't make it. :( was in tears this tea time when i read it. http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/local-west-yorkshire-news/2010/07/06/hinchliffe-s-farm-shop-fire-latest-family-vow-to-rebuild-netherton-business-picture-of-scene-86081-26797388/

I saw that in the examiner too - even though lots of the chickens survived it's terrible to think that 200 died. Such a shame. At least no people were hurt and I'm really glad that initial investigations are pointing towards it being an accidental fire. Rumours had been flying around work that it was arson and that would have been disgusting.

Feel almost guilty to say a local place managed to accommodate us for our work meeting and I had a lovely lunch out after all.
