Bramble
Has anyone left their chickens "home alone" in their eglu/run whilst they are away for one or two nights? The omlet site says it's fine and I know there is more than enough food and water in the grub/glug to easily last them, but I'm a bit uneasy about it. What do you guys all think? shoura
I've done it several times, no problems.
Bramble
Wow, thanks for your quick reply, that makes me feel SO much better about it!
ISCA
I never have done so yet but would have no qualms doing so. My coop has an automatic opener/ closer for the pop hole so that would help.
scrambledhead
As long as they are secure, have food and water should be fine for a couple of nights, I will be doing the same next weekend and I know whatever anyone says you'll still worry
Cinnamon
I have left my lot for 5 days before now They are fine - there are just LOTS of eggs when we get back

Pharaoh
Do they mind being knee deep in pooh?
Olly
They shouldn't be knee deep after a weekend! (And the answer is 'no' - chickens mind far less about poop than we do!) I frequently leave mine overnight/two nights, they will be fine as long as the run is secure and there's plenty of food and water. Water is the biggest issue, as if it's very hot and dry they can get through quite a lot, so I would leave an extra supply if you can.
