johnandkymberley
Hi all, i woke up at about 8.30, and just when i was downstairs heard the most high pitched swark, i ran out thinking a fox or something and all the hens were in the run, Lily was in the nesting box and Hazel was trying to get in. so i thought oh Lily just wants the nesting box to herself! anyway kept an eye on them and hazel laid an egg, after i sneaked a look inside and saw Lily tucking it under her tummy. So rang OH to see what he thought and he said try and see if she has laid her own egg or just sitting on everyone elses. So i stroked her nicely and she was ok and gently pushed her wing to the side and there were 5 brown eggs under her. So i know she hasnt laid any as of yet. She didnt try and peck me or anything but saying that she wouldnt because ive been taming my white stars for the past few weeks and now i can hold them and everything with no chase. So far she hasnt been out to eat or drink, really worried that she is broody, i do have a pink eglu i can use anyway, OH doesnt want to hatch any eggs (he thinks we need to be more expirenced and find a home for the cockerel if we have one)... i however have been on ebay and farm shop sites and have found a gorgeous set of cream legbars....! Is Lily broody then? how do i tell? thanks in advance xxx
the-real-tinkerbell
as you know my black rock is in the sat on 6 clb eggs , when she started she would not leave the nest box if you opened the egg port she would fluff up and bark like a dog at me , i kept throwing her out and even tried shutting the cube up but she would just stand on the steps squarking so i gave up and moved her to the classic and let her sit ,and she has been a very good broody she comes out twice a day for a fag break makes a big racket then goes back in . her eggs are due on sat so lets see what happens i must admit im far more excied than when i hatched in the incy ,i cant wait

Egluntyne
It sounds as if she might be thinking about becoming broody. I'd snap her out of it if I were you as it is getting a little late in the season to be thinking about rearing chicks.
