Janepie33
Does anyone know how to find out if a company on the internet is a genuine company? I have been looking for an oak bookcase and have found exactly what I want on 4 different websites with varying prices. The cheapest company has an 0800 contact number and a PO box address which seemed a bit odd, whereas the 2nd cheapest seemed to have a proper number and address and they displayed their VAT number. Any thoughts and ideas greatly appreciated.
Clur
Have you tried Googling them? People will generally post if they've had a bad experience and you should pick up any warnings.
bluekarin
I would Google for reviews of the company. If you have no actual address, then I'd steer clear. Sometimes the cheapest isn't necessarily the best place to get things from. Don't know if you'd be able to check at companies house maybe to see if it is a legit company
yvonne
You can look up any company for free on the Companies House website - will only get basic info such as registered address, but at least you will know it is real.
