Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I don't know which laid it as they have all been in and out of there, but I have an egg!

Update - I think it was Ava looking at the colours they are meant to lay. I am still holding it

Congratulations! Im four weeks into this and I still get a real thrill collecting eggs each day (and I don't even like eggs!) ... the first of many for you I hope!

I'm afraid it's true Kate, I did only get them yesterday. I was expecting to wait weeks too!

Yours are pure breeds, who take longer to come into lay, hybrids are specified for egg production!

Em laid her first egg today!

 

Ava was sitting for aaages laying hers, and poor Em was rushing up and down, clucking, going in to see Ava and clucking at her, then rushing up and down, clucking and bum twitching. Then once Ava has finished (I had a quiet word as I think she was just comfy) she rushed in, and a bit later there was a little brown egg!

 

So we're now on Ava 2, Em 1 and Millie, plenty of sitting on the nest and pretending but low on the production

 

We had fried egg on bread for lunch
