Snowy
YS has now finally got rid of the stabilisers! And what a painless process! Unlike his two older brothers - I remember spending hours running up and down the road holding their saddles before they could ride. This one - I held on while he got going, then a couple of times while he did the setting off with pedals, and that was it - we started half an hour ago and he is now merrily riding around as though he has been doing it for years!! With the older two we tried the stabilisers, then one stabiliser then none, then both then none again I saw balance bikes earlier this year and it got me thinking - we had an old, small pedal bike that YS had outgrown. So I got OH to saw the pedals off it, and YS has been scooting about on that all summer. I just wish I'd discovered this with my oldest and not with my last! The Dogmother
What a clever little lad! A couple of friends have balance bikes for their smallsters and they get up to quite a speed on them and never need stabilisers. I wish I'd known about them when teaching Rosie to ride her bike
Snowy
He rode to the park today and had a couple of turns around the new skate park I'm amazed at how quickly he has become confident - it really seemed to take ages with the older two!
