A seller has emailed asking how much I'll take for 3 items. I have checked the rules and as far as I can tell, this isn't allowed, is it? They aren't BIN and they end tomorrow.

 

Should I just ignore his email ?

Cheek! Yes, ignore him - unless you've posted BIN then it's an auction and you (and he) must wait for the auction to end. That's just a try-on.

Definitely ignore it. I think you will find that once the auction has started you cant accept a BIN anyway. Just let them know you want the item to go to auction only. Jane

It happens all the time, people chancing their luck - so yes, just ignore them.

I have had this before and have replied - Thank you for your interest but am going to let the auction run to the end.

Its quite common to email and as if there is a BIN price - you have to pay to put the BIN on so people don't always. It's how I got my original Eglu for £250 - I was emailing every local listing asking if they had a BIN price and after a couple of weeks I got lucky!

I have switched auction listing to BIN for people if they offer a decent price. As long as the transaction is completed on eBay and Paypal, I don't see a problem. You may or may not be able to change the listing if it is close to the finishing date. When I have altered mine I have been in close regular contact with the buyer to ensure that they succeed in winning the item and that no one else beats them to it. I have also asked people to change a auction item to a BIN when I have been in a hurry for something and they have done so.

He's emailed again saying they end in 4 days (I hadn't noticed!) and he won't be around. There are no bids yet, so I've offered him a price.

 

At least they'll sell that way - no guarantee otherwise!
