westie mum
With Diwali and bonfire night looming I just wondered if any precautions should be taken regarding my chooks. They all settle into the Go and I shut the door every night but is that adequate. We have a neighbour who lets off those really loud booming fireworks and I just don't want my girls to be stressed by all the noise. We were thinking of moving them into the garage when all the fireworks are going off, but is this a sensible thing to do or am I being over protective!! C&T
Ours were absolutely fine last year - slept right through. If you have fireworks VERY close, then maybe consider moving them to the garage that one night - but I know ours will be left in the garden for the duration! chicken bark
Personally I'd rather see those that set fireworks off get shut in the garage all night. Bah humbug. Your chickens should be fine. They seem to cope with most things.
dancing cloud
The first year I had hens, I stood outside in the pouring rain on Bonfire Night, ready to make soothing noises when needed - not a peep from any of them . I was seriously cold and wet, and tubby Puddy hid under the bed, but the hens were fine!
