I use Aubiose on fully paving slabbed base - its great stuff

Thanks M/Hen - I'm torn. I use it in the henhouse but it's expensive for me as I live in N. Ireland and there are no local suppliers so delivery charges are as much as, if not more than, the cost of the 20kg bag of Aubiose. Does it last for long in the run? Even as I type that, I guess it depends how waterproof we can make the run? Can't get Easibed locally either and woodchip doesn't really appeal as it won't have the absorbency of the aubiose.

Aubiose is fantastic, and I find it can last up to six weeks in the run if covered.

 

Woodchip will be fine, and if you can get hold of some from a local tree surgeon, it may even be free of charge.

We've got rapport in ours, which is similar to aubiose but cheaper. I do a poo pick up every day so that hopefully it won't have to be replaced very often

I use Bliss bedding - cheaper than Aubiose and Hemcore. Lasts at least 6 weeks but then I only have 6 chooks and three of them are banties. I poo pick every few days. I also use it in the next boxes and poo trays. You may have a supplier for Bliss in Northern Ireland?

Thanks for all the replies. I can get Hemcore over here but could someone please tell me if, for poultry, it needs to be watered down in the same way as for horses? Thanks!

No, use it dry - that way it soaks up the moisture from the poo and makes it into dry pellets which are easy to manage.
