I often give my girls Lifeguard in their water and change it regularly, but was wondering how long it could feasibly be left before changing the water? It's not a cheap supplement (but they're worth it! ) so I didn't want to be changing it daily if it's okay to leave a bit longer.

I use that in the water too, and change it on alternate days. My chooks have a drinker that they can't foul though, so make sure that the water is clean. As with all supplements, make sure that the drinker is kept out of the sun.

One of my flocks can take a week to finish the water in their large drinker, as Claret says I keep it shaded and raised high and dont seem to have any problems

 

I'd probably not leave it longer than a week though in a drinker

 

I have two dustbins that I use for storing water and I add lifeguard to these - the bins last a couple of weeks each but the lids are tight fitting - again I havent had any problems with bad water or chickens refusing to drink

Thanks for your replies. I'll leave their drinkers for a bit longer before changing the water/supplements now I know I won't be doing them any harm - it should save me a few pennies too!
