siamang2
Help! I bought two new POL chickens (one white leghorn, and one coucou maran)at the weekend and have tried to introduce them to my established two (bovans nero and lowmans brown). I did read lots of advice and spoke to lots of people, including the breeders who suggested I put them all in together straight away at night time and let them get on with it! So I did! Now I know I'm only 3 days in, but my established two are being so mean to one of the new girls it's heartbreaking to watch. There is lots of noise, and definitely some chasing around and I have witnessed some pecking. Most of the day my old two have kept out in the garden whilst the new girls have stayed by the eglu, but every time either the old girls or me approach the new ones they run like the clappers and hide in the house. i have watched to make sure they are all getting food and water, which they are, but there is definitely some bullying going on, especially of the smaller leghorn. At bedtime tonight she was chased out of the eglu several times before they finally allowed her to settle. Will all this bullying eventually stop or should I be trying to do something to make them make friends?
chick wiggle
I dont agree with the 'shove them in and let them get on with it' theory. I use the slow and careful introduction approach and havent had any problems. heres a link which might be helpful viewtopic.php?f=42&t=25886 Its not too late to try it. Good luck

Ain't Nobody Here
I also take it slow and steady. I got 3 new girls last Sunday and haven't let them in with the old girls yet. I'll only let that happen under strict supervision and probably not for a couple of weeks yet.
