Off to France by bike - We're back!

Recommended Posts

OH and I are off to France by motorbike - at 4.30am in the morning  We're meeting up with 3 other bikes near the M3 motorway just before 5am and crossing to France via the Tunnel at about 7.00am. I am the only 'girl' and only pillion in our little group as the other couple going are travelling by car this time.

We are going to visit friends who live in Auxerre (Burgundy region) and on Sunday we will all go the World Superbike Racing at the Magny Cours Circuit and will return home on Monday:)

Really looking forward to going and getting away but the journey is always a bit daunting for me as I don't get to go on the bike much anymore so I find it quite hard-going on my poor old muscles  but it does blow away the cobwebs

Must get on now, got to get the house clean and go and get supplies in for 4 children who will be home alone - don't know if I could ever buy enough though  Technically ES who is nearly 20 will be in charge although I think it is DD (17) who will be in control and look after him and 2 younger boys

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time Lisa, sounds very exciting

CTB and I have toured in France on the motorbike a few times but I've always gone by plane and met him at the airport- more than about three hours on a bike and my knees lock up so I cant get off

Hope the weather is kind to you and dont worry about the house cleaning - make the kids do it for when you get back

Thank you, we had a fantastic time :D

We got back Monday evening but I just haven't had time to get back on here until now. The children did really well on their own but it's still been a bit of a mission to get back into a routine and clear the backlog of washing etc that accrued over the four days

Had a great trip down, actually getting on an earlier train than booked and took the scenic route down to Auxerre as the weather was good :D After approximately 12 hours on the bike Friday, Saturday was spent taking it easy and then Sunday we went to Magny Cours for the World Superbikes - a great day for watching racing in 24 degrees sunshine 8) . Monday it was back on the bike for the return home. Unfortunately it did rain for the first hour and a half of the trip, but it did clear up and for the first time ever I managed to come home from France on the bike dry

Sadly there are no photos as yet (although that may be a good thing  ) but I will try to get some. Some could be quite interesting, especially the one of the motorbike ridden into the kitchen  This of course was done by one of their mad French friends, not us restrained Brits and hardly any wine was consumed while we there

Back to reality now but so glad I went - can't wait for the next "Ronnie Raid"...........
