Eglu Go Up (with 2m run) - South Wales

Has anyone had experiance of using two eglus in one large walk in run? Do the chickens all 'flock' together or will they use both? Has anyone ever put thier eglu on stilts or a raised platform. Any advice would be much appreciated!

We put our first two Eglus on a platform - James from Omlet saw it and the rest is Cube history There is a photo somewhere....I'll see if I can find it.

 

Then we moved and bought a few more recon/second hand Eglus and we now have 5 sets of two Eglus to a WIR. The hens sometimes use both and sometimes one.....they're all quite happy with the set-up.

yup, had 2 now got 3!

they play musical beds and sometimes someone gets the pad to themselves which is fine in the warm nights, if it happens when it turns cold I will intervene. I have one on the ground for my disabled girl and her friend, I won't let 4 sleep in there !

mostly the same girls are in each Eglu.

Ours is not so much a walk in run as a 6m x 6m fenced in area (no roof) with two eglus and extended runs in there. There is also a rhododendron bush in there for them to scratch in. Tonight all five are in one eglu but it can change every night so it always interesting to see how the dynamics change.

Thank you all so much for your advice. The search for a second eglu starts tonight! My girls have been together from 5 weeks, so I bet they all choose to snuggle up! However choice is good & it will make me feel happier that I am meeting thier needs. Thanks.
