Loobyloo
Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me why my chickens pick up bits of bark/grass/paper/soil from their run and sort of throw it behind them, back over their shoulders? Is this a type of nest building exercise? It seems to be associated with going onto the nest and laying an egg (ie it starts an hour or so before the egg appears). I am fairly new to chicken keeping, and have been watching in fascination as I have noticed two of my three (the two that are laying) doing this over the last few days. Any ideas? Lucy Edit Just popped you into chickens Buffie
Helly Welly
Hi Lucy This is just part of the nesting instinct....at least yours nest before they've laid, mine do it afterwards.
