The temptation of the empty eglu...

Recommended Posts

As all my chicks/newbies from this year are now introduced with the rest of the girls, I have a !gogreen! and a (purple eglu) both with runs totally empty...

It's so very, very tempting to go and get something to fill them up. It's probably just as well I can't find any Modern Game bantams... or maybe I should seek out some more orps... or a lavender pekin or two.

Somebody tell me I should wait till next year!

I'd keep one free for unexpected eventualities

I do have a WIBrooder in the garage for a hospital wing (probably won't hatch with the incubator again if I can avoid it - much prefer using broodys) and also a spare ark... so probably don't even need to keep one spare for that...

and get some to put in the other. Now is the time of year to introduce chickens as they are more docile in the cooler months. :D

Now I LIKE that thinking!!! But you're all suppsed to be talking me out of it!!!!

Sometimes I'm glad I don't have a spare coop - I can't have any more chickens now until I move my young girls in with the big girls. They all FR together now so that is the first step.

Then I'm hoping one of them will go broody in the Spring and I'll have my first go at hatching some eggs. I bet the one that has gone broody 4 times this Summer won't bother next year.

If you have the space then there will always be someone who will welcome any surplus eggs.

It's no good I don't seem capable of talking you out of it - unless you sell either the !gogreen! or (purple eglu) ?
