worming day five desperate to feed treats

Recommended Posts

I know i shouldn't whilst worming with Flubenvet , :notalk: but it is cold at night and not much

better during the day, this morning day 5 my girls look bored and cold ( sad i know), they have

scratched all edible treats from the wood chips since we started worming and i know there is little

to find ...i have poo picked and raked the chips all week so i know.

I have given in and given them just a small handful of mealworms and a pinch of corn.

The flurry of activity and happy clucks made ME feel much better and my girls are being active

scratching away and keeping warm. There , just had to admit how naughty i have been.

Not found any worms in droppings tray or in run....yet!

Although ideally the birds should receive a steady input of flubenvet during the day, my feeling is that, since the food is stored in their crops then provided they have filled up on treated feed first thing and also provided they consume the right amount of medicated feed over the 7 days, then treats are OK. If you find you have medicated food left over at the end of the 7 days then perhaps they didn't get enough (or if it were me it would probably be because I miscalculated somewhere!).

Personally, I allowed my girls to free range from lunchtime onwards and also made sure they were back in their pen early evening so they would fill up on more pellets before bed.

I have also never changed my routine while worming.

ex bat pellets in the morning and treats after lunch. I didnt even know you were supposed to stop the treats!

I dont think i would be allowed to, they have me set in a routine! if i step out of line i know about it!

I have made it to day 7 , yippee! No sign of any worms in run or in poo trays

(which i have changed daily), just given a handful of corn it is chilly out there at 12 degrees.

Told you it is chilly today (out of the wind)......My girls can have treats tomorrow,

they deserve them :D:D

Just so you all know i have ordered my WIR it will be here in three weeks :dance:

I don't think they mind the cold to be honest. We have a WIR and our ex batts can't wait to get out the hatch in the back of the run and go and have fun in the border that runs along the back of the garden. Today the ground is really wet and they have all dug out huge dust baths and have been sitting in them. You would think they would prefer to be in the WIR where it's dry and warmer and they could just dig around in the rapport on the floor in there, but nope.

I also found it hard to stop giving my girls treats when I was worming them, but I did manage to go the whole 7 days with no treats and hardly any FR. I also didn't see any worms in their poo, so not sure what was going on there :?
