Chicken shack
Bluebelle can now flutter onto the cube run and from here it is only about another 18" and she could be over the wall. I was lucky I was out there with them when she did this today. Since I have had then in August they have free ranged in part of the garden most days, all day as OH works in his garage. I only have a small garden and moving them is not an option, neither is raising the wall. My step son said that he would build me a walk in run and attach the cube to it but I have been waiting for other stepson and son to finish my bathroom that they started in spring and still resembles a building site . I don't want another project started and not completed. Any suggestions would be welcome. Wings have been clipped. Alis girls
One of mine is a minx and regulalrly escapes from bit of garden which is fenced off very badly - sadly shes the one hen who hates being handled and a tad thick too so getting her back to her sisters is a nightmare. I usually find food is the answer for getting her back in.
Chicken shack
If you look at my thumbnail you can see how close the run is to the wall and how easy it would be for her to hop over. I live on a busy road and can't take the chance of her getting over. Their FR days will now be limited to the odd half hour here and there. I am thinking of getting a walk in run this wouild solve the problem I, but I will have to save up first.
jennydavies
Could you rig up some netting between two tall pieces of wood against the wall
Chicken shack
OH used flexable pipe at the top front of the run in a loop and dangled things from it. It now look like one of the lorries you get in India. I will have to take a picture and post it on here. While I was at work he was able to let them FR. hens. My OH has rigged up a piece of tube at the front on the cube run with string and things hanging from it. This has done the trick and Bluebelle has stopped the 'Great Escape' If you look on my link I have posted some more images, there is one where you can see the run behind me. Impresive ah But works a treat
