When I went to the farm to buy the Lifeguard tonic I asked about the best stuff to put in the run under their house for the winter. The man showed me something called Safemix 440 equestrian bedding, which I must admit was lovely and soft, and something else he said everyone uses for their chickens called Hippofan. The Hippofan was more expensive, by £2.00 and he didn't put any pressure on as to which to buy - and I am terrible at decsions - so I bought the hippofan stuff. Was this the right choice ?

I've used Safemix 440 bedding in the hen house it's like easibed but if I remember right the bale I used had alot of FOD in it in the form of bits of plastic DPC sheet the type that's used on building sites and as I can get wood chip type bedding from a couple of places near to me I've not used it again

Oooo er sorry for being a bit thick but what is FOD and DPC ?

FOD :-Foreign object debris or damage depending on the context it’s used in

DPC:- damp protective course it used under concrete floors to stop the damp coming up from the ground
