Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I left my old job in April, so the girls have had a lot of time running about from 10am until I shut them in about 6pm ish. But my new job means I have to work every morning until 1pm and most days they will be shut in till then. Will they mind too much ?

Well, you can expect some emotional blackmail from them - you know, pacing up and down the run, bok-boking etc, but they will soon get used to it. Even if I'm at home during the day (rarely) I don't let my hens out till after lunch anyway, to make sure they lay inside the Eglu and fill up on pellets.

Unfortunely sometimes "needs must" and all that..they will soon get used to it, just bribe them with some mealworms and I'm sure they will forgive you..after pleading with those chickeny eyes.....

They'll get over it. You could treat them to an extension to their run so that they have more room to play.

An extension to their run is a brilliant idea - especially over the winter but i'll have to earn some wages first and then hubby can say "these eggs get more expensive by the day"
