chickenopolis
Both yesterday and this morning (infact for the last little while...on and off), Flo decides that before she flings herself out of the cube in the morning, she turns round 3 times on the roosting bars. She then launches herself out into the run - luckily I have the door on the run open, otherwise she would be a heap in the run.. When she has had a stretch of the legs, a morning poo (sorry, too much information) and a few mealworms, she heads back up to the nest box, but before we flings herself up there for a sit down and an egg (if I am lucky), she goes round the bottom of the purple ladder 3 times. I have checked her for lice, and anything yukky, but she is as clean as you can get. She does clean herself quite a bit, but both my girls do - they settle themselves down by the fridge in the kitchen and have a good shake, clean and then a snooze. I wouldn't want my girls to be "normal", can't think of anything worse to be honest.....but do any of your ladies do this?????? Have I got an OCD chook???? MarkBevBen
Ooh I'm not sure if your Flo has OCD, but you did make me at her little routine. I have noticed our Dottie in fact seems to have a little routine - straight out of the Eglu first thing to eat her breakfast, then it used to be around 10am she'd go and lay an egg. The eggs have been a bit earlier/later in the last week or so though - maybe due to the darker weather? They're so much fun to watch though aren't they

merlotti
Brilliant! Am enjoying watching the scene in my head! And you're right - there's nothing like a hen that's really got their own little quirkinesses! I'd leave her to it! Merlotti x
