milli
I have been semi lurking around here for a while enjoying looking at everyone's chickens. Now we might finally be in a position to get our own, but we only have a very small garden. We have enough space to build a WIR of about 2.5m x 2.5m, but because of our work patterns the chickens would be confined to it most of the time. So my question is this, do we have enough space for a trio of chickens? Thanks in advance
Chicken shack
When you think about the space battery, barn and even free range chickens have yours will have enough space. There is a thread on here about The Happy Hen Company and it will horify you to see the conditions they have to live in. I am sure one of the very nice moderators will give you the link. I think everyone should have there own chickens. It would put a stop to the suffering hens endure. Go for it!
bigmommasally
2.5m x 2.5m gives you over 6 square metres of space so technically you have enough room for 6 chooks Go for it, its the best thing we've ever done. We both work full time and our girls are confined to their run 24/7 and are absolutely fine.
percy049
You should have enough space as the others have said, and anyway, some chickens just stay in the run you get with the Eglu Classic, which can house 3 chickens.
Egluntyne
That'll be plenty of room. You can add interest by including perches etc.
MarkBevBen
As the others have also said, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. We're also new to chicken keeping and whilst we've had a bit of a rollercoaster start I wouldn't swap them for the world! They're just so entertaining with their little personalities and bonus, you get lovely fresh eggs as well!
