quinlan
Please can anyone offer some advice? Darth was fine 2 hours ago then about half an hour ago she was sprawled on the floor of the run. We brought her in abut for a while she couldn't put any weight on her legs. Since then we have put her in a cardboard box with some water...She has had some food. She has been standing up in the box. I imagine we should keep her in? She normally roosts outside in the run, has never shown much interest in sleeping in the eglu. Any thoughts? I'm worried about her.. Redwing
What breed is she and how old is she? Any obvious injuries?

quinlan
Just been out to see her...She has drank all the water in the bowl, could she have been dehydrated as she is now able to stand up? There was water in her run though... Have felt for a stuck egg but nothing. Her crop feels very soft and squashy, is this a problem??? Have put her on a towel covered hot water botle and will refrain for handling her now, let her get some rest.
Steve the Gas
If her crop is overlarge and squishy - probably sour crop.
gongladosh
Does she have bad breath? Here's an article on sour crop: http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=59754
Plum
The crop probably feels squashy because she drank a lot but check in the morning when it should be empty. If she won't sleep in the house and now deteriorated I would check the house for redmite which can severely weaken and even kill a chicken Hope she's on the mend. quinlan
Just to let you know, Darth is fine! She spent the night in the house, went back to the run the next morning and has been her usual self since! So glad she was ok... Now she has started moulting.... Feathers everywhere!! Egluntyne
That was probably the cause of the problem. Glad to hear she seems better.
