Trougher
We've just had such a laugh - our three ex-batts were free ranging in the garden, making the most of the nice weather, when my son went out to check on them and found that one had got over a five foot fence and was happily wandering round next door's pristine garden! We rushed round to the neighbour's and said 'please can we have our chicken back', which they were happy about, and we put Lucky over the fence back into our garden. By the time we got back to our own house, we found all three chickens (having never set foot in the house before) in the hallway! We had to shoo them out quickly before my husband had a fit (he's not keen on having the chickens in the house)! At least we know Lucky can fly now! jester
I permanently have to keep the back door shut now as my chickens just stroll right in if the door is left open, as much as i lvoe them, i dont want poo on the kitchen floor. I've had mine 3 weeks tomorrow they free range 3-4 hours a day but they've not got over my fences yet luckily.
hunkydoory
Mine hqve a wander in to the kitchen but don't go much further as they dislike the polished wooden floor they don't seem to enjoy skating
gongladosh
We had similar recently when our (Kiki) crept in when I nipped upstairs. I can't have been upstairs for more than two minutes when I heard the sound of a hen chuckling to herself at the end of the hallway... We were lucky - normally when a hen manages to sneak into the house, we get a 'present', this time she'd been before she got in the house! MarkBevBen
Awwwww Lucky, I bet she would have had a field day in your neighbours pristine garden Trougher! They're so much fun though aren't they!

C&T
Glad your neighbour was OK about it all!! We have carpet throughout - which doesn't work well with Chooks and their pressies... We have a babygate now across the back door, which works really well. If we forget it just once though, they'll be in before you know it, hiding under the dining room table... percy049
We left the back door open one day, and the chickens came in. they also left us a present, one from each of them! One of which they gave in my budgies bird bath!
ElvisFan
Mine stand by the back door and demand to be let in most days and if hubby isnt in I let them come in for a bit, they love getting onto the table though which is a no no even for me (softie chicken mummy) and the other day when I was baking and opened the oven to take a cake out they both charged to see what was going on and nearly got roasted alive - they're not allowed by the oven any more
Trougher
I have one girl who sneaks in and hides behing the back door curtain She usually gives herself away at some point by muttering That's funny! It's been so wet today I haven't let mine out of the run, but all joking aside, I am a bit worried that Lucky is going to make another bid for freedom. I am wondering whether to do a bit of wing clipping?
