I know this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any knowledge (or know someone who does) of the fishing industry / conservation in Australia? Preferably connected with rivers in and around Sydney.

 

DS is in his 2nd year of a degree in Aquaculture and Fishery Management and needs to find a 6 week work placement for next year and he rather fancied Australia!

 

If not Oz, any ideas for anywhere else in the world / country. He is more interested in rivers than the sea and he has contacted a multitude of agencies who all say they do not provide work experience opportunities.

A lot of the rivers in Sydney are unsuitable for fishing, due to all the heavy metal that was dumped in them from factories (many many years ago) so all the fish have been poisoned.
