Hi folks,

is it normal for all ten of my girls to stop laying at the same time? They have pretty much all had a moult and all but my black rock ( who has had a bald bum for months ) have all grown lovely new feathers and look gorgeous.But not one of them are laying? Will they lay again this year or are we going to have to wait till the spring? I hate having to pay for supermarket eggs!

Do not worry I have like 5 banty hens including a black rock and not and egg in about 4-5 weeks and by black rock has a baldish neck The change in weather and short days will put them off

Most of my girls have stopped due to moults, retirement or the shorter days. I've gone from around 10 eggs a day to 3.

 

I'm expecting it to be the same until spring now.

 

I'm going to have some very disappointed friends at the egg drought

I've got ten as well and am getting one egg every other day from my Dorking cross at the moment and that's it. I've only one egg in my egg skelter at the moment-lol

I'm down to 1 a day from my 5. Its been the same since the weather changed so I'm rationing the fried eggs for breakfast at the moment

Have they been Flubenvetted in the last 3-4 months?

Yes it is quite normal Dippy - my LF all stopped laying a month or more ago to moult and I don't expect them to start again til Feb/March.
