i normally use bedmax in the run and easibed in the nest boxes but couldnt get any this time so ive got snowflake ive not put it down yet but it was only £7 a bale so i thought i would give it a shot as they only other thing they had was hempcore and thats a tenner a bale and im tight lol

 

has anyone used it ? if so what did you think to it

not tried it, but next time round I will be going for the cheapest I can find!! I like my aubiose, but I cant imagine the girls would notice a significant difference between one type or another to be honest.

Its good in the nextboxes but will most likely be terrible in the run unless the run is really sheltered on the sides and has a roof

 

I'd never use it in a run, its not a sturdy and woody as Bedmax, its very absorbant

i have a roof and tarps all round ,so i guess its worth a shot

I use Snowflake wood chips and they are fine in the WIR about £7 a huge bale. Does my WIR (6x6x12) twice!!! then goes round the fruit trees as mulch/fertiliser!

I was getting some more floor covering today and the kind man at my suppliers cut one of each pack open to let me compare bedding. I told him not to bother with the Snowflake as it's only wood shavings.

 

I said that I found Hemcore's quality has gone downhill and I was advised that stocks could not be guaranteed so the company that makes Hemcore are now using a different wood (now rapeseed) and can guarantee production and quality. It now has a new name - something like Resolve (I can't remember exactly). I changed to wood chippings in the summer and am very happy with them (so are the girls and cleaning is a doddle) but could not be bothered to battle with the crowds at B&Q so I got a bag of Bedmax. Bedmax is made of very large wood shavings - like butter curls - so I'll report back on that.

 

As an aside, I asked the guy to look into stocking Garvo and he said he'll keep me informed - fingers crossed as it means I will have a one stop shop just a few miles from home.

I use Bedmax and have for ages now. I wouldn't swap
