Sue
Each one is an individual, and some will get highly excited about what they have achieved, and others will just have a couple of cackles and get on with life. Having or not having a cockerel doesn't seem to make it better or worse all the best Sue
Plum
Mine do make a bit of noise when Hen is laying. She always chatters to herself which sets the others off. The neighbours say it's not an unpleasant noise though. She makes a big bock afterwards and then its peaceful. Give some of those eggs to the neighbours and they'll be happy. daxigirl
Paxo is the only one of mine to start laying and the first couple of times it was trumpets and fanfares for about half an hour. 6 weeks into it and she now comes out has a drink and a nibble of food and goes about her business of being a chicken with no noise at all. Trougher
Of my three ex-batts, two are pretty quiet, and one is quite noisy. The noisy one lays large eggs, so perhaps it is a bit traumatic for her!!!
beach chick
my lot tend at the moment to lay in the mornings - but no noise until after daylight! after about 7.30am I think it doesnt really matter - girls dont tend to go on for hours and hours, but if they do I just go out and tell them to shut it, and they seem to!! sometimes I think they are forgetting that they are actually making a noise...
