Nicola O Posted November 17, 2010 Share Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I know I don't post on here enough to be 'missed' but I've been without my broadband for four days whilst BT sent me a new piece of equipment to replace the bit that had packed in. It's been awful, not being able to get on the forum - I can't even get on at work - and it will probably take me all evening to catch up with all the posts. A big thumbs up to the little indian chap on the BT help line - I couldn't get the two new Powerline Adapters to work and he talked me through the whole set up process. It took half an hour (good job it was a freephone number) and he was very patient as I am a bit of a techno numpty and he had to repeat a few stages a few times for me to get there, but we are all fixed and up and running again. Mr W is an IT geek and he still has to phone the BT helpline and spend ages on the phone.It took them 4 days to fix our internet when it died............it was just a gizmo at the exchange that packed up.........took them 2 seconds to fix it once they had found the source of the problem. stoice Posted November 17, 2010 Share Posted November 17, 2010 You're lucky, Since we connected in june with BT (Tied into an 18 month contract), it only lasted a week at most in any one go. Three months, 11 technicians, a 'shift and lift' (whatever that is) and a gazillion phone calls to India we finally got it sorted. Nicola O Posted November 25, 2010 Author Share Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) After several more days of frustration, with the broadband being off more than on I finally got a BT engineer out this morning who discovered that the wire that runs from the outside junction box to the inside one was completely perishied. So at last it's all sorted, new wire = perfect phone line & broadband. Very happy now, I didn't realise how much I used to go on line until I couldn't (I'm sure this forum has nothing to do with that ). Nicola.
