Guest
I went to the cinema to see it with my dad, late 70s/early 80s. This was in the days when they showed a shorter film before the main feature. I'm not sure if this film was the main feature film or not, I think it was. It was about an American student who was also a swimmer and he either had a brain tumour or a brain hemorrhage. i seem to recall a scene in the film where he collapses in the changing rooms of the swimming pool. I also think the song 'The Way We Were' was played in the film. I thought the film was called 'Memories' but I have googled all these phrases and come up blank. Anyone know what the film was called? Sheilaz
Would you be thinking of "Love Story"? In the '70's, so you'd be very young. I didn't see it myself, but it was all the rage at the time. Forget that, it's wrong. Er, I don't know!
Guest
not love story...it might not even be an english language film, it could have been dubbed, i just can't remember. I'm sure it was advertised on the telly and I pestered my dad to take me. It haunted me for ages after i saw it, it was so sad. I have googled every phrase i can think of but nothing, even IMDB comes up blank, it's so frustrating.

Guest
found it, eureka! http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Media-and-TV/Film/Question360088.html http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078438/plotsummary http://www.vicpine.co.uk/Last-Feelings.htm http://www.amazon.co.uk/Last-Feelings-Carlo-Lupo/dp/B000RJY5WI according to amazon... This 1978 Italian/English dubbed tearjerker classic was very popular in it's heyday and on it's re-release in 1980.Most people will have seen this as a double bill with the other Italian classic "The Last Snows of Spring". so I wasn't far off! 'Last Feelings' that was driving me insane! Might try and get hold of a copy now!
Sheilaz
Glad you found it Poet, I know what it feels like when you can't trace something half remembered. Don't watch it again though, far too sad by the sounds of it!

Margalot
Thank you Poet!, I have just read you thread and because of the links have been able to find a horror film that I had wanted to re visit for such a long time. It was a film my older sister showed to me when I was about 8 and I think it has remained in the back of my memory for ever. It really scared me at the time and even as I was growing up I never really lost the creepiness of the film. All I could remember was a couple who moved into a house they unbricked a fireplace and these evil gnome things came out and terrorised the woman, they would only come out in the dark, so this reinforced my fears!! anyway I have now looked it up and its called Dont be Afraid of the Dark made in 1973 by ABC tv network. "Ooops, word censored!"ody I have ever recalled the film to has seen it, so I am now off to try and get a DVD of it to see if I can still be scared by it!! i have also watched a few clips on you tube and loads of comments from people my age who also remember it as their scariest childhood film! thank you

Ain't Nobody Here
This reminds me of when I was about 12 and was taken to see Asylum by my dad (at a family film night when we lived abroad). He had no idea what kind of film it was (despite the name ). I was scared stiff for days .
MedusA
Glad you found your film, Poet. Anyone know the name of a horror film about a woman who buys or is given a voodoo type doll who comes alive and terrorises her with it's razor-sharp teeth? I remember seeing it late one night about 35-40 years ago. Never seen it since. It still haunts me now. *shiver*
