Hi my son felt so sorry for the girls that he put them in a fishing basket and kept them in his room last night. They were all snug this morning and his room smelt like a farmyard! Once they had woken up I had to turf them out into the snow, what a rude awakening. Had to break the ice on the watering can (their favourite watering hole) and the glug so a cold start for me in my dressing gown. It hasn't phased the girls one bit, they are happily mooching about in the garden ignoring the snow.

They must think they are in a hotel!!!

 

They will be plenty warm enough in the eglu though, so your son need not worry. He could always cover the eglu with a blanket for extra protection as long as the ventilation holes are not covered.....

I think big heat changes are not healthy so best leave them outside tonight.

 

Glad yours are not phased. Mine are coming to terms with it now and have finally ventured out of the coop. I dug a few paths around the garden for them and gave them some warm pellet porridge this morning.

 

One of my ducks was so excited she actually flew a little bit. Not done this before and she is quite a big girl.

I agree, big sudden temperature changes can be dangerous for them. Leave them outside tonight they'll be fine.

My girls have not even come near the snow, i put some in their run for them and they eat it but i've managed to clean run and go without them comming out. I picked them up for a quick health check and they stayed in the house ha ha.

Hi I know he should have left them outside, but he just wouldn't have it. I will put my foot down tonight though. They are still out now and it looks like they have explored every bit of the snow! Thanks for advice.
