sadietoo
I love this forum. Just gently clicking through a couple of weeks ago whilst enjoying a cuppa, I happened across the what are you making now thread, and ended up following the links to Attic24 blog, (lovely) and then of course I followed the links on her blog to other blogs and ended up at Ravelry. http://www.ravelry.com Now many of you will no doubt find this "old hat", but for me it was the inspiration I needed to get my knitting needles out after nearly 20 years...so far I have made three pairs of fingerless gloves, a scumptious hat and two cowls..one of which my daughter took back to France with her yesterday...and I am now having my first ever attempt at socks. All the patterns I have tried so far have been free, and worked very well. And the best bit is being able to see (through other people's efforts) the finished article made up in various different colours with different types of yarn before you start knitting.... Anyway, thanks again omleteers, I would never have found it without you!!x

Olly
Ravelry is fabulous, isn't it - I love looking at other people's projects! My sister introduced me to it, and then I found Attic 24 through Egluntyne's post about the ripple blanket. I just wish I could translate my feverish excitement into reality, I've been struggling to finish an Aran jumper for over a year and just don't find the time to concentrate on it. My sister knitted me a lovely pair of fingerless mittens for my birthday with musical notes on, one hand has the bass clef and the other the treble clef, they are lovely and very useful at the moment! PurpleTree
I've just discovered my friend has a couple of patterns she's created on Ravelry, she blogged about one of them, for a hat, here http://jenniepowell.wordpress.com/2010/10/04/publishing-patterns/
