I have some eggfood in the cupboard and I wondered if it is OK to feed to the hens? I thought it would make a lovely warm mash for them in this cold weather.

I'm not sure what it is either.I have seen it for Sale In Wilko's,Asda, P@H ect

 

I guessed it was food for small birds as it had a picture of 2 small birds on the front lol

Didn't know either, so I asked google - it knows. It says that eggfood is something you give wild birds and that it is very healthy. There is a recipe on how to make it yourself as well.

It's a kind of supplemental food for rearing birds/for sick birds. I have it as I use it for my rats when they have babies

or are old/ill.

 

The ingredients are wheat flour, egg and egg shell, soy protein, hemp seed, nigerseed, perilla seed, oats, oils and fats plus vitamins and minerals.

There certainly doesn't seem anything in there that you shouldn't give them, especially in this weather .

Thanks. I'll try a little and see how it goes then. I thought the oils and protein would be good in the weather, especially as some are moulting.
