Door too small for Jersey Giant?

Does anyone have one of these Feeders I need a rat proof feeder and really don't get on with my treadle feeder. The food clogs, gets damp, chickens throw the food around etc etc. I have a normal hanging green and white feeder but there was a rat sitting in it when I looked out this morning I am wondering if the chickens can get pellets out of the spiral.

and this would be perfect. There is a plan to make one Here but I am creatively challenged

Someone on ebay makes these and sells them quite cheaply

I guess the rat isn't heavy enough to open the food ?

Yes CM, I have the first feeder mentioned, and the hens soon learn to use the spiral. Mine is the metal one from Solway, as recommended by Lesley a while back.

I wouldn't use any other style now, there is no spillage, and the run has been rat & squirrel free for 2 years now.

Would thoroughly recommend it, hope this helps.

Thanks Teabag, can they get pellets out of the spiral, I'd also quite like the pigeons not to be able to eat out of it.
